Acer palmatum 'Amber Ghost' (BBP)
DETAILS AND CARE
This striking deciduous tree features a graceful, upright habit and is a prized variety of Japanese maple known for its dramatic foliage. Recommended for USDA hardiness zones 5 through 9, it thrives in temperate conditions, preferring partial shade and well-draining, slightly acidic soil. The deeply lobed leaves emerge in spring with a warm amber hue, transitioning to soft pinks and greens throughout the growing season before showcasing a vibrant mix of oranges and reds in the fall. Its small stature, typically reaching a mature height of 8–10 feet, and its elegant, rounded canopy make it suitable for small landscapes or container gardening. This cultivar does not produce significant fruit and is moderately resistant to deer. It is an excellent choice for adding ornamental interest year-round.
