This deciduous shrub or small tree features a multi-stemmed, vase-shaped habit that brings architectural interest to landscapes. It is hardy in USDA Zones 7–9 and thrives in warm climates with recommended temperatures from 70°F to 95°F. It showcases stunning fall foliage in hues of orange, red, and yellow, enhancing its seasonal appeal. From midsummer to early fall, it blooms profusely with vibrant clusters of flowers in shades of white, pink, red, or purple, depending on the variety. The fruit is a small, brown capsule adding winter texture to the landscape. Well-drained, slightly acidic soils are preferred for optimal growth, and it does well in loamy or sandy soils with medium moisture. Its mature height ranges from 10 to 25 feet, with a spread of 6 to 15 feet, forming a rounded or spreading crown.
