Physocarpus op. SUMMER WINE® PW PP14821
DETAILS AND CARE
This deciduous shrub exhibits a compact, mounding habit with gracefully arching branches, making it an excellent choice for landscaping and borders. Hardy in Zones 3-7, it thrives in temperatures ranging from -30°F to 0°F. In the fall, its leaves turn a rich, burgundy hue, complementing its darker tones throughout the growing season. During late spring, clusters of small pink-white flowers adorn its branches, creating a striking contrast against its deep wine-colored foliage. The shrub prefers well-drained soils and is adaptable to various types, including clay and loam. It is moderately resistant to deer and reaches a mature height of 5–6 feet with a similar spread. Physocarpus produces inconspicuous fruit and is an excellent choice for creating colorful and textural garden compositions.
