DETAILS AND CARE

This striking evergreen conifer has a dense, upright habit with a sculpted poodle-like form when trained as a topiary. Hardy in USDA zones 4-7, it thrives in areas with temperatures ranging from -30°F to 90°F. Known for its dark green needles that retain their color year-round, it does not offer significant fall color. This low-maintenance plant is deer-resistant and shows tolerance to a variety of well-drained soils, with a preference for slightly acidic conditions. Its mature height and spread vary depending on pruning but typically reach 6-12 feet and 4-6 feet respectively when grown as a topiary. The unique shape and form make it an excellent focal point in gardens or formal landscapes. Suitable for full sun, it contributes structure and interest to outdoor spaces and requires minimal watering once established. No flowers or fruit are present, making this a pure foliage interest plant.
