Thymus pseudolanuginosus (Wooly)
DETAILS AND CARE
This low-growing, mat-forming perennial is characterized by its silvery-gray, fuzzy foliage, offering a soft, textured appearance ideal for rock gardens, pathways, or ground cover. Thriving in USDA hardiness zones 5-8, it performs best in full sun and well-drained soils, preferring moderate temperatures ranging from 60-80°F. Wooly thyme has excellent deer resistance and requires minimal maintenance once established. While it doesn’t produce prominent flowers, its understated pink blossoms in early summer add a delicate charm. The foliage does not display notable fall color and remains evergreen in milder climates. It has a mature spread of up to 12-18 inches and tolerates light foot traffic, enhancing its utility in garden design.
