DETAILS AND CARE

This evergreen shrub has a dense, compact, rounded habit, making it an excellent choice for hedging or as a specimen plant in smaller gardens. Hardy in USDA zones 7-11, it thrives in mild climates with recommended temperatures ranging from 15°F to 35°F. It features glossy, dark green leaves year-round and offers clusters of fragrant pinkish-white flowers in late winter through early spring, which are followed by small metallic-blue berries that attract birds. The foliage does not exhibit a fall color change, retaining its vibrant green throughout the year. It prefers well-drained, moderately fertile, slightly acidic to neutral soils and tolerates partial shade to full sun. It reaches a mature height of 4-6 feet and a spread of 4-5 feet, forming a rounded shape. Moderately deer-resistant and drought-tolerant once established, this low-maintenance shrub is an excellent addition to landscapes needing year-round interest and pollinator support.
